US Geothermal Inc has announced that commercial operations at its 11.75 MW geothermal power plant in San Emidio, California, have commenced.
The plant will supply the power it generates to NV Energy for $US89.85 per megawatt hour (MWh) under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
The San Emidio power plant is expected to generate an average of approximately 71,500 MWh of electricity each year.
US Geothermal Inc also announced that its construction contractor has achieved mechanical completion of the second of three 7.3 MW, air-cooled power plant modules at the company’s Neal Hot Springs project, located in Malheur County, Oregon.
Construction on the 22 MW project is approximately 93 per cent complete, and is expected to achieve full commercial operation late in the third calendar quarter of 2012.
